Human nature predisposes us to be weary of something we do not understand or puts us in a new unfamiliar environment. What I can tell you for sure right now, the hardest part of your journey here is simply SHOWING UP that first day.
Increased power, strength, cardiovascular and respiratory endurance, flexibility, stamina, coordination, agility, balance, and coordination are each important to everyone from the world’s best athletes to our grandparents.
You say your overweight? Out of shape? Never were in shape? Uncoordinated? Whatever it is, guess what you are not the first to come in thinking that and you will not be the last. I believe what makes our community so welcoming is that many of us Crossfitters started in the same shoes. Over time many have witnessed themselves transform into the best shape of their lives and we want to share that experience more than anything.
Conversely, anyone already in good/great/mediocre or whatever shape, awesome, but everyone that comes in starts at 0. Bottom line is your mission here is to take whatever level of fitness you walked in the door with and progress from there.
